Distractions & Procrastination

– An Avenue Perspective
On the avenue of life, distractions are like the flashing shop windows and noisy street vendors tugging at your attention. They don’t intend harm, yet they simply want your eyes, your energy, and time. Some glitter brightly, some are trivial, but all can pull you from the path you had set for yourself.
Procrastination, however, is different. It’s not outside; it’s within. It’s when you pause at the corner, hesitate to cross the street, and tell yourself you’ll move forward “in just a moment.” It’s not the shop windows stopping you, it’s the quiet voice of doubt whispering, “Not yet.”
Distractions scatter your energy outward. Procrastination turns your energy inward, often in a loop of avoidance or perfectionism. Together, they can stall your journey. The gift is that both are signals. Distractions may point out where you need clearer boundaries. Procrastination may reveal where fear or resistance has taken the wheel.
When you notice either one, don’t scold yourself. Instead, pause. Ask yourself, What’s this really about? Then take a gentle step back into motion... one small action is often all it takes to break free and find your stride again.
