Why People Want Someone Else to Tell Them What to Do

Because being human is tender!

Making decisions asks a lot of us: clarity, trust, responsibility, and courage! And most of us don't realize how heavy those things feel until we're standing at a crossroad with a shaky heart.

So we reach for someone else's voice. It's not because we are weak, but because borrowing confidence feels easier than generating it from within.

The Fear of Being Wrong ... if someone chooses, then I can't be blamed.

Overwhelm ... life comes with too many choices.

Lack of Self-Trust ... many people don't trust their inner compass yet.

Desire for Approval ... "if you choose for me, then you'll also approve of me."

Learned Behavior ... some grow up with authority making all the decisions.

Emotional Safety ... letting someone else decide feels safer.

Fear of Responsibility ... "if I choose it and it goes wrong, it's my fault."

The deeper truth is that most people don't actually want someone else to decide. They want certainty. And, they believe certainty lives outside of them.

Certainty is an inside job!
